Chef John

Shabbat & Holiday Chef

John Grant is the chef behind Charleston Hillel’s Shabbat dinners, bringing great food, good energy, and plenty of personality to Friday nights each week. A College of Charleston graduate with a background in finance and years of experience working at Basic Kitchen, John knows his way around both a kitchen and a crowd. Before taking over Shabbat dinners, he was already part of the Hillel community as a student event assistant, helping with everything from campus programs to Chanukah in the Square. Whether he’s cooking up a favorite Shabbat meal or keeping the kitchen running smoothly behind the scenes, John is a huge part of what makes Fridays at Hillel feel like home.
